I'm glad that my mother provided that cotillion opportunity for me at that age. Some of that knowledge about how to take and hold a girl's hand, etc. has come in handy. (no pun intended) I just meant that I don't feel any conscious connection between that awkward puberty cotillion with any rhythm or interest in salsa dancing, despite them both being labeled "ballroom dancing". I wouldn’t give much credit there, but understanding the basic “box step” model is certainly a useful foundation. Attributing credit/blame to childhood experiences’ affects in adulthood is an inexact science, for sure.
