I'm guessing they are from Algeria or some place rather than Spain this early in the season. Our homegrown strawberries have just hit the fruit stands. They are mostly smallish and wonderfully sweet. We had been getting gigantic (some apricot size) ones from California for a while, but they seem to sacrifice the flavor for bulk. Steroids, I suppose.
