MHNATY - May His Noodly Appendage Touch You

digg_url = ‘http://digg.com/arts_culture/MHNATY_May_His_Noodly_Appendage_Touch_You’;Since November, 2005, my Pastafarian friend, Hubbers, and I have been signing our emails to each other with the word “mhnaty”. It has recently come to my attention, that Google is completely ignorant of this wonderful acronym. This is a travesty that I’m writing this post to rectify.

Roscón de Reyes

I think the roscón de reyes is a Spanish tradition that I have yet to mention on this blog. Traditionally, the second most important day of the winter holidays (the first being Nochebuena) in Spain is January 6, the Día de los Reyes Magos, or the Epiphany, as it’s known in English. This [...]

Santiago

This morning, I told Marga, “I just realized that today is the closest thing I have to a Saint Day.” “But [...]

Stained Glass, Literally

At the risk of my dear readers thinking I’m a drunk slob, I’ll share this grape-based epiphany.
Last week, a glass that had contained some wine was left out for a few days and the remaining wine almost dried up completely. The result was this accidental work of art.

Si Dios Quiere

Learning a foreign language gives you a perspective on that language that the native speakers don’t have. Some phrases become so ingrained into the language, that their original, literal meaning fades. For instance, saying, “Catch you later!” when departing from someone might be a little confusing or frightening for a foreigner who didn’t [...]
