This web page is dedicated to finding out as much information as possible about Rasmus Rasmussen, particularly about his book, Sømanden paa Hav og i Havn (Seamen on the Ocean and in the Harbor). I am currently seeking help in translating it into English so that Rasmus' American decendants can learn about their great seafaring ancestor.

At the moment, the book is still in the process of being digitized for posting to this web site. However, some of the book is already available for viewing. I have chosen an image compression technology called DjVu (pronounced "déjà vu"). One of its strengths is the high-definition compression of historical documents. To be able to view DjVu files, you will need to install the DjVu Plugin for your browser. Using the DjVu plugin to view this book is highly recommended. The quality will be higher and the download time quicker. However, for those of you that are unable to do so, an alternative version of each document will also be available.
